Export & delete your data
Download a full copy of your data, and delete an account or a whole workspace — with a 30-day safety window.
Your time data is yours. ProjectPacer lets you download a complete copy at any time, and delete an account or an entire workspace when you need to — with a grace period so a delete is never a single misclick away from permanent.
Export your data
Two exports, depending on what you need:
Settings → Profile → Data & privacy → Export your data. Downloads everything ProjectPacer holds about you — your account, time entries, and trips. The Excel workbook is the readable one; JSON is the complete machine-readable record, for moving your data to another tool.
Settings → General → Export workspace data. A portable backup of the entire workspace. The Excel workbook has a tab per table — members, clients, projects, engagements, tasks, task types, rates, entries, trips — so it's readable as-is. Handy as an off-site backup you keep yourself.
Exporting the whole workspace needs both the Export workspace permission and See all workspace data — the file contains everyone's time, so you can only export what you're already allowed to see. Your personal export is always available to you, no permission needed. See Roles & permissions.
The Rates tab follows the same rule as the Rates page itself, which goes by role rather than permission: owners and admins get every rule, bill and cost. A manager gets the bill rates for the clients, projects, engagements, and people they manage. Everyone else gets no Rates tab at all — cost rates are compensation, so they never leave owners and admins.
Exports never include secrets — passwords, calendar-feed URLs, and integration tokens are left out.
Delete your account
Settings → Profile → Data & privacy → Danger zone → Schedule deletion. Type DELETE to confirm. You're signed out immediately, the account is locked, and we email you the date it will be erased.
Every workspace needs at least one owner. If you're the only owner of a workspace other people are in, you'll need to make someone else an owner (or delete it) before you can delete your account — otherwise they'd be left with nobody who can run it.
A workspace where you're the only person is different: there's nobody to hand it to, so it goes with your account — scheduled for deletion on the same 30-day window, and restored with the account if you change your mind.
The time you've tracked stays with each workspace for its billing records, but anonymized — the hours remain, no longer tied to you. Your personal data (profile, settings, calendars, saved views) is removed.
Delete a workspace
Settings → General → Danger zone → Schedule deletion (owner only). Type the workspace name to confirm. Everyone loses access immediately and every member is emailed — so nobody discovers a deletion by surprise, and there's time to undo it.
The 30-day safety window
Neither delete is instant. Both start a 30-day grace window during which the data is hidden and locked but fully recoverable:
- A workspace you own shows up under Settings → Profile → Data & privacy with a Restore button until the window ends.
- Your own account — contact support to restore it while the window is open (you can't log in to do it yourself).
Once the grace window elapses, a daily cleanup permanently erases the workspace, or anonymizes the account. That step cannot be undone — so keep an export if there's any chance you'll want the data back.
